About Joseph

Joseph's Mission Statement:

Throughout my tenure at Clarkson University, I aim to challenge myself within my studies.  I intend to participate in undergraduate research in a subject that I am passionate about.  I will further my passion in the field of power generation and storage.  It is my goal to stay active on the Clarkson Honors Steering Board and continue my interest in attending local government meetings.  After making the most of my time at Clarkson, I will graduate with a Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering & engineering and management through the Honors Program.  Subsequently, I will obtain a master's degree in order to further my knowledge in the field of mechanical engineering.



Biography:


 Joseph Borst is a sophomore at Clarkson University.  He is pursuing a double major Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering and engineering & management.  He is fascinated by automobiles, aircraft, spacecraft, and enjoys learning about what makes them function.  He was selected to be one of fifty-one Clarkson University freshmen to be a part of their selective honors program. A strong advocate for community service and involvement within his community, he regularly participates in community service and has achieved the rank of Eagle Scout.  He planned, fundraised, and constructed a reading trail behind Ovid's Edith B. Ford Memorial Library.  He organized work parties throughout the duration of the project which totaled over 311.5 volunteer hours.  He has worked extensively with Seneca Towns Engaging People for Solutions, or STEPS, and took on the role of Senior Youth Ambassador within the organization.  He enjoys expanding youth voice within his community whether it's through his past roles as Student Government President, South Seneca National Honor Society President, or his current position as Seneca County’s representative on the New York State Governor’s Youth Council.   In his free time, he enjoys playing his tuba and is a guest performer at South Seneca High School band concerts.
